Hei,
Progress with my Widebody. Started with the rear wheelhouse bulkhead. But I can't decide what height I should use.
I want a compromise, it's nice proportions vs full standing height inside.
I am 6ft4inches and have already decided to have no deck inside the cabin. My question is: how do you Tolmanites use the cabin, should I have full standing height, at least in between a the stringers.
I assume yes, but the design in Renns book (full wheelhouse) is not close to standing height. How much do you sit?

In my Widebody I stand on the hull inside bottom in the house. I have exactly 6 feet from the inside bottom to the house inside overhead, at centerline.  I'm 5' - 9 " tall. I felt that any additional height would make the appearance of the boat top heavy. For appearance sake I would have preferred a lower height, but this appearance thing is purely personal. In a 21 foot boat it's difficult to get cuddy and pilot house heights ample enough for humans without going to high in appearance to my way of thinking.

I raised the wheelhouse height to accommodate my height, 6' 4". I hate hitting my head and besides that, I wanted rod storage on the inside ceiling. So with the rods in the rod holders, I still have a couple of inches. My cabin sole is the same as it is in the cockpit. I have a 112 gallon tank under which was the determining factor about sole height.
Personally, a little high is better than banging your head and wishing you had made it higher...
