I have two questions bouncing around as I get ready for this weekends work on the boat:
1) Where is the correct place to put the waterline on the Jumbo. My Jumbo is stretched to 25 ft, with the fuel tanks starting 8ft forward of the transom and running 70" towards station 6. I think they will end up with the forward end of the tank being about 12" aft from station 6. I found one reference where someone said they put their waterline at 4" above the chine, and it was a little low. What did you do and how did it work out?
2) Is there any flexibility in positioning the sprayrails, or do they need to be positioned per the book (I don't have the book with me, but as I remember the bottom of the rail is shown approximately 13" below the chine edge). My question is would it severely hurt the performance of the rails / boat if they were to be moved one to three inches up or down?
The logic being that I would like to put the spray rail, with a UHMW edge, at the same level as the rub strip on the docks I will be using most of the time. I don't even know is its a option, as Ive only been able to look at pictures of the docks and guess on measurements, but I have to be in Newport this afternoon, and I am going to measure the docks to see how it pans out. I certainly plan to use bumpers to protect the side of the boat, but just thought if this is close, it would make sense to have the two line up. What are your thoughts?
Once again I really appreciate the input from the people on this board - it certainly helps ease the mind to have experienced input in areas I have no knowledge whatsoever...
