Roger that!    Me and keith - 60, pushed my 26'10" jumbo sideways and backwards.   Using a floor jack and pipe.   I figure near 1800-1900 lbs now.

Tolmans can carry a ton if cargo.     I just googled a 25.5 steiger craft.  Bdry weight 5900 lbs wo fuel or motor.   Thats anbextra two tons to lug around!!!

There are several under construction and one wood one and one aluminium that I know of both of these are in Oregon. I am stopping by to see the wood one this Saturday on my way back from San Diego in Portland Oregon. If I am allowed I will take some photos and post if he gives me permission I suspect he will he sounds like a real nice guy.

I must be a very thrifty shopper. I built a 21'4" center console Tolman Wide Body for $16K out the door every thing was brand new and top of the line for the most part except the aluminum tandem axel trailer I got for $1,600.
90hp 4-stoke yamaha, two digitol yamaha gauges, hydrolic steering, full flotation, epoxy paint, kiwi grip floor, HDS 7 chart plotter, auto tether, Icom 424 VHF, Binical mount controls, Okoume Hydrotek construction, SS all deck hardware, LED NAV lights, 3 awesome thanks to Paul, flush pedestal's, two bilge pumps, wash down, two batteries, deck inspection plates, 32 gal below deck fuel tank, and  412 actual build hours.
I did get some great deals but I shopped real hard.  Let the Internet be your friend. It would have been real easy to spend more but I did spend a lot of time searching for the best deals.

Are these new 2013 prices?  I think your engine prices when you add in controls and prop are way low.  I'd be suprised if you could get a BF150 with controls and props for your 200hp price.

Also if I were building a GA I'd want at least a 250 on the transom, slow boats cut into fishing time.

I'm looking at a 28' GA this weekend he has a 250 on it. Can't go WOT with out porpoising. Runs smooth up to 40mph I hear anyway then it starts. That is more than fast enough I think 175 hp is enough and 200hp more than enough

I'm with Chuck on this. The hull weight is max 2700 lbs at 28 feet and the designer recommends 150-200+ HP.  I'll put a 150 on my GA25 (the smallest it can be built according to the plans) and I'll have plenty of speed and save some fuel to boot.

no offense intended, but it is only an estimate and you live in AK which experiences a substantial price increase not only for food, but for motors and any other comodity other than salmon, halibut, moose, caribou, Brown bears etc... give me a break I can get a motor for under the price in the estimate. Once again meaning no disrespect it is only an estimate. As far as the horse power it is more than adequate for the hulls per the designer and those who have used them.

I am spending a couple of days working the PNW Sportsman's Show here in Portland Or. In the process I have been looking at offshore boats and getting quotes on outboards and electronics. So far I have beaten my motor estimate on both boat models by $1,000.00. So far the Suzuki is the most favorable in cost.
I have also gotten some real good design ideas for layout and deck design. I am getting real antsy to start making sawdust!

Don't tempt me!  I'll just be content to spend my time using the heck out of my boat this summer, no desire to upgrade.

I have this conundrum where if I get a bigger boat I really need another house with a bigger yard, and then if I spend the $ for that, no money for a bigger boat.
