Control box throttle/shift linkage
« on: August 23, 2008, 09:05:18 PM »
Just wondering if the control cables come standard with the 703 control box?...(Yamaha) I am not a outboard technician so I was a little perturbed that they were not in the box!  I was getting all ready for a shakedown run, when i noticed no shift action or throttle! The F115 does start nicely and is soooo quiet(at idle of course)

Steffan,

They are not supplied, mainly because there's no way of knowing the length needed.
They generally come in one foot increments, most dealers will let you return them for longer or shorter ones if needed.  They also can advise on how to correctly measure for them.
I believe it's measure the length and add 12" for each 90 degree turn.

Most all modern O/B's use interchangeable cables.

Thanks Neal,  That clears things up for me,  The first splash will have to wait a few days!
