Made It Mackinac Island
« on: July 27, 2017, 11:33:38 AM »
We just returned from a great trip from Traverse City, Mi to Mackinaw City, MI and back, with some cool stops along the way.

We could not dock in Mackinac Island due to the influx of sailors from the Port Huron to Mackinac race, but we enjoyed a day on the island via Shepler's ferry.

Great trip and some historic scenery, here's a video of us under the Mackinac Bridge:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSF1ZWtMH7I&t=2s

As in many of our trips, we encountered some very bad storms and sea conditions, a lot of the trip to Mackinaw City was in 3-5' oncoming breaking waves, 35 MPH winds.  But the boat performed well, with no issues other than slow going.  Glad we had a pilot house, otherwise we would have been soaked.  Lots of spray and rain during this adventure.

On the way from Petoskey to Mackinaw City, we got hammered with a terrible storm, and had to duck into Sturgeon Bay for a few hours to take refuge.

Spotted a pristine vintage Triumph Bonneville at a cool shop in Petoskey, MI

Enjoy!

My family and I visited Mackinac Island a few summers ago. Pretty cool place to see. We took the ferry over so the ride was a lot less bone jarring. Your boat looks good in those pics.
