LA Times announced that the melting of the snow pack this year will bring Lake Powell up 50'.....from 100' down right now.......this year.....making plans...........Bruce          http://www.water-data.com/

When do you think you might go?

Lake Powell has always been a cruising goal of mine.

Excellent! Thinking about a trip too. Can't fish so may as well travel. Anyone have any dates? Haven't been able to link to Bruce Armstrong's excellent articals. Darn. Thanks Bob (Jumbo 'Golden Ones')

Thanks Bruce I found the artical on duckworks. Did some checking on a trip and the tow distance is #850 miles so my wife put the kibash to the trip. Oh well. Guess we stick with local halibut fishing and doing some diving. Bob

Lake Powell trip ideas:  While $4.00/Gallon gasoline may limit the crowds at Powell this year, my plan would be to go in Sept. if the lake is still down less than 75' ...... it's down over 100 now and is said to be going up 50.......I've been there when it was down 90...anyway, it would be cool in late September but the water would still be warm enough to swim.....and with school in session, the jet-ski/beer drinking/V8-drystack crowd would be sparse on the water.......May is the only other choice and I don't think the snow melt will have brought the lake level up at that time......it's a 600 mile tow from Santa Barbara -- i've done it in one day but generally break it up into two days.......Bruce

Last September we took the boat for a long week in the South Puget Sound and had it mostly to ourselves.
Since I work in education it is hard for me to get a lot of time off in early September but later might work out.
Also, we're signing up for the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Show this year.
