Longtime lurker / cheater here
« on: April 07, 2022, 05:18:05 PM »
Hello from windy Cape Cod.
I've read about Tolman skiffs with a lot of interest for a while. Given my state in life (dad of two young kids) a boat wasn't in the budget, but I had an opportunity to purchase a widebody with a 60hp 4 stroke, so I did. It was a great addition to our summer last year and spent a lot of weekends beached on sandbars and small islands. Anyways, I feel like a poser being here having bought a Tolman instead of building it, but I am working to do all the maintenance myself and will be tackling a workboat-quality paint job in the near future. Thanks for letting me be here.

Great to have you here.

How're you finding the 60HP on the WB?

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I'll get a picture up soon. If you've been on these boards for a while you'll probably recognize it as Ken B's build. The DF60 treated us well last year. Nice and quiet, and on a calm day it's capable of pushing ~30 kts loaded up with five or six people, coolers, beach chairs, etc. Hoping to get it out for some fishing this season as well.

My skiff made it out in cape cod bay as a bare hull with a borrowed kicker. Got some blood on the floor. Was a great trip. Trying to remember the builders name who was down my Woods Hole. Did you buy his boat?

lurking here in East Falmouth.  would love to see this boat at some point in time.  strongly considering building a 26’ jumbo.  Places to go and people to see.

how does your 21’ widebody handle the Nantucket Sound chop?   i have been out on these waters in just about everything for over 60 years.
