I don't have the book available and was asked a taping question.  When finishing the bottom to chine to side joints what is the taping regiment.  If I remember correctly the book said something like unless told otherwise tape all joints with 4" tape followed by 6" tape and then follow with fabric over the entire bottom or side overlapping the joints.  Does that sound about right?  It has been to long since I did it or reread the book but that is my recollection. 

I have read about some using wood for the bottom strakes and keel in order not to have bottom penetrations from the screws into the UHMW.  Can some tell me how you did this.  Did you glass the bottom and then add the sacrificial wood strakes?  If so how did you fasten them?  Screwed to bottom then screws removed and filled or something else?  Did you round the strakes and create a fillet and then another layer of tape over the strakes to the fiber glassed bottom or something else.  My son is approaching this point and asking for some advice.  This is on a stretched jumbo like skiff.

Thanks, as I understand your post there are a total of 3 layers of tape prior to the bottom glassing.  I couldn't remember if it was 2 prior to whole hull glassing or 3.  Thanks for the reply.
