Gone before us
« on: September 15, 2011, 05:20:52 PM »
Thanks Steveoh for the addition.
In the photo you'll find Bruce and Ron a few years back at the Homer Wooden Boat Show.
At that time we were all having fun.

...I'm embarrassed!  Please ID the people in the picture.  I see Neal, then someone, then Renn, then someone, then you (Gary), then someone... which one is Bruce?  He must've lost weight by the time I met him...

Sorry...

Brian

No problem Brian,  sorry I didn't identify them at first.
From left to right is:  Neal,  Tim Davis,  Renn,  Bruce, Gary(myself) and Ron Williams.

Thanks.  It's been lotsa years since I first met Tim Davis and it was a single meeting ...and I've only met Bruce in person once too, and he changed as he lost weight.  Sad.  I've never met Ron in person.

Yup, that's the one.  He built the boat that Ron Blake bought ...nice boat.

Dann Siems left us February of 2011. He used to hang out on the Tolman Group at Yahoo. He always talked about building a Standard, but life got a bit complicated with his own bout of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. A year after having been declared cured he got a different kind of cancer in his brain that finally killed him. I really miss reading Dann's blog, and talking politics, fishing and boat building. I was lucky and got to meet Dann a few years ago.

I miss Dann and will for a long, long time.

Today is the one year anniversary of Bruce's passing. I wrote Diane to see how she was doing, and to just let her know that we are thinking of her.

Just had a PM request for some of Bruce's writing "oh how cheaply a tolman could be built."  Do you think it would be ok to post some of my favorite "Tolman Yahoo group bruce armstrong" emails on his RIP thread?  The plan is to just cut and paste some of the good ones. The nice thing about gmail is that I still have all the old posts (the crappy thing about gmail is that they own all the emails and... "watch" me). If this might be considered bad taste, on disrespectful in any way, no worries.

Thanks.

I agree ...bring it on!  Remember how Bruce stayed in contact in spite of his illness, not a single complaint ever made?  I'd get short one-liner emails from him towards the end ...not knowing until later that he was near-passing and probably in the hospital.  Quite ill and still staying in touch on Tolman topics ...the guy was amazing.
