Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show
Saturday-Sunday, August 19-20, 2023, Toledo, Oregon
The Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show is a fun and interesting event and I would like to extend an invitation to the Tomanites to attend on behalf of the port. I am not affiliated with the Port of Toledo; I am just an exhibitor. Here is the web page for the event from 2022,
https://www.portoftoledo.org/wooden-boat-show. The organizers have just started their planning meetings. The cost to attend is free and the cost to exhibit is also free. At some point in the future registration will open for the 2023 show.
The actual show is Saturday and Sunday but several of us show up a day or two early and stay a day later. There will be free dry camping available for exhibitors in a big field next to the show. It's OK to sleep on your boat, and mooring is free Friday through Sunday nights; sometimes Thursday and Monday also. Usually there are cardboard boat races on Saturday which gives you a front row seat from the dock. Most of those exhibiting boats are Coots and/or members of the Oregon Coot Chapter TSCA. You can see the Coot’s 2022 information page for the boat show,
http://www.coots.org/mb/Toledo/index.htmlSo far, we have Mark N bringing his Tolman WB21 that was built by Dave Wright and I am bringing my Tolman WB21 that I expect to launch in June. Mark and I usually go crabbing for Dungeness crab in Yaquina Bay on Friday. I might even try to do some bottom fishing on Friday or Monday.
The organization meetings start this month and I would like a rough count on how many people might be interested in bringing their boats to show. I have been told that the port can accommodate as many boats that want to exhibit. Once the registration is open you will need to register to exhibit your boat,
